An evening with..Fraser McKinley

AN EVENING WITH…FRASER MCKINLEY OF SAMI-ODI

Monopole Private Dining Room | Tuesday May 11 | 7pm

It’s the perfect opportunity to try new wines, test your blind tasting skills, and maybe earn some bragging rights by walking away with a brand new Coravin wine preservation system.

An evening with … is Monopole’s brand new bi-monthly wine dinner series and brainchild of  Sommelier Nick Hildebrandt, which he will host himself on a bi-monthly basis in our new private dining room in Curtin Place. Hildebrandt says this format will allow guests “to get up close and personal with a winemaker or key industry figure who has an interesting background and is doing something that we respect and admire.” People should bring an open mind and an adventurous palate for this fun and relaxed dinner.

Join creative Barossa winemaker Fraser KcKinley and sample some of his hand-made, limited-release, cult wines that send fans into a frenzy.

For the next instalment of Monopole’s An Evening With…we will be spotlighting Sami-Odi a small, but highly regarded winery in the Barossa Valley that produce two shiraz wines each year that thave a serious cult following.

Sami-Odi founder and winemaker Fraser McKinley’s winemaking style is transparent and low intervention, honouring his passion for letting the soil, the season and the grapes guide the wine.

“We don’t use anything that plugs into the wall,” says Fraser. “It means everything is done at a pretty slow, gentle pace. It’s pretty hands-on the whole way through and I really enjoy that.”

Fraser’s not just hands-on in the winery – he controls every aspect of the process, from tending the vines and making the wines to creating the labels, bottling the Shiraz and sending them off. This is wine as a pure expression of its maker and the place it’s grown and made.

Fraser who is redefining Barossa Valley wine through his label, Sami-Odi and will be the next guest of honour for the intimate dinner series on Tuesday May 11. Guests will have the opportunity to sample some never-before released drops during the evening alongside a selection of snacks plus a 3 course menu.

Once again Nick Hildebrandt will be hosting a game of ‘wine options’ where the winner will walk away with the Coravin Model 3 device worth $380.

This event will be capped at 20 people and guests will be seated together on one table.
