An evening with…Richie Harkham

It’s the perfect opportunity to try new wines, test your blind tasting skills, and maybe earn some bragging rights by walking away with a brand new Coravin wine preservation system.

An evening with … is Monopole’s brand new bi-monthly wine dinner series and brainchild of  Sommelier Nick Hildebrandt, which he will host himself on a bi-monthly basis in our new private dining room in Curtin Place. Hildebrandt says this format will allow guests “to get up close and personal with a winemaker or key industry figure who has an interesting background and is doing something that we respect and admire.” People should bring an open mind and an adventurous palate for this fun and relaxed dinner.

For the first instalment of Monopole’s An evening with …  we will be spotlighting Harkham Wines, a small, family owned and operated winery in the Hunter Valley wine region in NSW, Australia. The vineyards are farmed sustainably and their fruit is handpicked to ensure the highest quality. All the wines have minimal intervention which makes each bottle and vintage completely unique.

Harkham Wines founder and winemaker Richie Harkham will be the guest of honour for the first intimate dinner on Tuesday March 23 and will be bringing along some of his favourite drops from his cellar door, as well as some of the wine’s he has been inspired by. Harkham has followed in the footsteps of his grandmother, Aziza Harkham, who was famed for her natural wines. Aziza produced these wines in clay pots for her family in Zichron Yacov Israel in the 1950s.

Guests will enjoy snacks plus a 3 course menu with matching wines for $180 per person.  Harkham will be introducing a few different styles, grapes and vintages while Hildebrandt will host a game of ‘wine options’ where the winner will walk away with a new Coravin unit.

This event will be capped at 20 people and guests will be seated together on one table.

Our Reservation Policy

Monopole accepts limited bookings. We book up to half of the restaurant and leave the rest for walk ins.

For bookings of 6 or more we require credit card details to secure the reservation. If you fail to arrive for your booking or cancel less than 48 hours prior to your reservation a cancellation fee may apply.

Groups of 8 or more are required to select our $80 set “Monopole menu”. For tables booked at 6:00 to 6:30 pm there is a 2 hour dining time.
