ABOUT OUR WINE

Monopole is a French term meaning ‘one wine, one vineyard, one producer’ – a monopoly. Although Monopole is a small wine bar, it has a huge focus on wine designed to complement Brent’s food and offer customers a selection not found elsewhere in Sydney.

Carefully compiled by Nick Hildebrandt, one of Australia’s most influential sommeliers, Monopole’s list includes more than 500 wines from around the world. Many are rare or made in limited quantities and exclusive to Monopole. Organic, bio-dynamic and preservative free wines feature prominently.

On any visit you’ll find more than 30 wines pouring by the glass or carafe, perfect if you’re keen to sample a few different wines.

In its first year of opening, Monopole was awarded ‘Wine List of the Year’ in both The Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide and Gourmet Traveller’s Australian Restaurant Guide, and has won many awards since.
